Joe Biden Proposes "Equal Treatment" for Puerto Rico in Medicaid Program

In his budget proposal submitted to Congress today, U.S. President Joe Biden proposed giving Puerto Rico better access to the federal Medicaid program.

This was confirmed by Governor Pedro Pierluisi. "Today, President Joe Biden kept his word by including in his budget proposal equal treatment for Puerto Rico in the federal Medicaid program, which finances Puerto Rico's government health program," the executive posted on his social networks.

According to Pierluisi, Biden also included in his budget language for the federal government to "pave the way for parity in other federal welfare programs, including Supplemental Security Income and PAN, as well as other appropriations that benefit Puerto Rico."

The executive is waiting for Congress to approve the budget presented by the President.

"This is a great achievement for our people and we thank the president for continuing to defend the rights of the American citizens of Puerto Rico. Our administration will continue to fight for equality in all federal programs that benefit American citizens," he concluded.
